Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Peter Brown and I am a qualified professional counsellor. I am essentially a person centred counsellor, that incorporates other counselling methods, if deemed necessary ie psychodynamic, cbt, gestalt or transactional analysis.
The emphasis being on what best suits the client, according to the needs and requirements of my client ie very much focused on my clients needs.
I have extensive experience of working with people from all walks of life, through my private practice work, and numerous voluntary organisations as well public sector work.
I work in a warm, supportive, confidential, safe although challenging and open manner/way ensuring your voice is heard and respected ensuring you come to understand yourself, your needs, conflicts, anxieties, defences and relational patterns. We confront and explore alternative ways of being and relating bringing about change, transformation, stability.
I have a high success rate of dealing with problems/issues as diverse from anxiety, depression, self esteem/confidence, anger, addiction, emotional, sexual or physical abuse, relationship issues, trauma (cptsd or ptsd) and bereavement/loss. Therefore if your finding it difficult coping , struggling with your feelings, behaviour or your thinking is just going around and around in circles, get in touch with me, my door is always open.
An innate passion for helping people...
I receive great feedback from my clients and I believe that's because I have a strong understanding of human nature and have developed greater emotional intelligence, self-awareness and have a desire to constantly learn more to help my clients.
Most importantly, I have an innate passion for helping people find solutions to their own problems so that they can empower themselves so that they can be as happy and successful as possible.
My ability to "be really with you" during the counselling, and really listening and noticing things about you and your needs, means that I can provide both the emotional and psychological support and the direction to help you achieve your aims/goals and better understanding of what's going on for you, by bringing more clarity to what's happening.
Our sessions are totally confidential and my approach is entirely non-judgemental. The only things I expect from you are honesty and the desire to work hard, sometimes outside your comfort zone which is where a lot of personal development really takes place.
I help clients holistically with their challenges and objectives. My approach is to achieve what you want.
I maintain a policy of strict confidentiality and follow the ethical framework of good practice of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), of which I am a member.
